ABOUT RESTAURANTS
Congratulations, SUBWAY!
The Hilton Head area group of Subway restaurants will
celebrate its 20th anniversay in May of this year. It has
been a real pleasure to watch restaurateurs John and Carla
Remegi grow their business from one Subway location in
the Village at Wexford in 1988 to five in the Hilton Head/
Bluffton area, and six in the Beaufort area.
At the same time, the overall company has grown from
about 900 franchises to about 29,000 locations. That's two
great success stories!
The local Subway group is celebrating its anniversary
by remodelling all of its restaurants, which should be completed
well in advance of their anniversary in May.
Subway's success, in our view at least, is based upon a
really good product (plus good management). Subway offers
an excellent selection of great sandwiches on freshly
baked bread. All sandwiches are made with your choice
of cheese, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, dill pickles, green
peppers, black olives, etc. Numerous subs have 6 grams
of fat or less. Any sub sandwich can be made as a salad.
All local Subway locations are open continuously from
lunch through dinner, until late, seven days a week.
The former CAMELIA GRILL has changed
its name to KWIZEN. However, only the name has
changed. The same great team continues to offer excellent
"contemporary Southern" cuisine paired with fine
wines and in a casually elegant atmosphere.
Kwizen serves dinner from 5:30 pm "until." It is located
in Park Plaza (near the main entrance to Sea Pines
Resort), near Harris Teeter grocery store and behind Mellow
Mushroom.
For more information, please call 842-
3727.
HONG KONG GARDEN is under new
ownership and management since October, 2007. The restaurant
serves a wide selection of "Fine Chinese Cuisine
for All Generations," including representative dishes from
the major styles of Chinese cooking. Their very extensive
menu also includes cuisine from other areas of Asia,
including Thailand and Japan.
It is owned and operated by natives of northern and
southern China. Prices are very reasonable. Lunch, including
a Chinese buffet, is served Monday-Friday, and
dinner every night. A reasonably priced Chinese buffet is
available during lunch. Take-out, delivery (see page 8)
and reservations are available.
Hong Kong Garden is located in Park Plaza (tucked
away in the back of courtyard to the left of Harris Teeter
groceries). For more information, please call 785-9999.
RUAN THAI CUISINE has opened a new,
third location in Savannah! The restaurant is operated by
Searee Suphata, the son of the founders of the Hilton
Head's Ruan Cuisine.
The new Savannah Ruan Cuisine III offers a menu very
similar to the Ruan Thai Cuisine restaurants on Hilton
Head Island and in Bluffton, except for a larger selection
of lunch specials. Its hours of operation also are largely
the same. The restaurant has more of a bistro atmosphere
than its two South Carolina cousins.
Savannah's Ruan Thai Cuisine III is located at 17 West
Broughton Street, in downtown Savannah. For more information,
please call (912) 231-6667.
STACKS PANCAKES & MORE will
begin opening for dinner on Tuesday through Saturday,
from 5-9:00 pm, starting on March 11. Most breakfast
and lunch fare will continue to be available, plus special
dinner choices.
For more information, please call
341-3347.
