GO ON A KID-ORIENTED
NATURE CRUISE. Several boats at
opposite ends of Hilton Head offer
special programs to give kids a "hands-on"

DAUFUSKIE ISLAND HERITAGE TOUR.
One-hour ferry ride from Hilton Head Island to
Daufuskie for a two-hour narrated historical and
cultural tour of Daufuskie Island. Storyteller
included. 120 year old First Union African

African-American Cemetery, Broad Creek

BEACH WALK. Tuesday through Thursday, all
year. Guided nature walk at low tide. Learn about
our local beaches, plants & animals. Coastal

is open from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm Monday
through Saturday, and from 10:00 am until 2:00

ISLAND RECREATION CENTER
PROGRAMS. Monday-Saturday. The Island
Recreation Center offers numerous informative
and fun classes for kids of all ages. Classes in
arts and crafts, dance, low and high impact
aerobics and jazzersize. Lessons concerning a
variety of sports, plus general sport participation
programs on a weekly basis. These classes and
events are programed for a variety of ages and
experience levels. There is an olympic size
swimming pool, tennis courts, playing fields, a
track, basketball courts, a soccer field, and
meeting rooms for classes and programs. "Dropins"
always are welcome. All senior programs
are in conjunction with the SHARE Center. Near

HILTON HEAD PUBLIC LIBRARY. The
architectural award-winning Hilton Head
Branch of the Beaufort County Public Library
is located at 11 Beach City Rd., just off William
Hilton Parkway, about two thirds of the way
from Sea Pines Circle to the Bridge. Aside from
usual library services, our library has a very
extensive children's library and a Story Time
Theatre. There also are exhibits of art by local

PINCKNEY ISLAND WILDLIFE REFUGE.
You may either walk or bike through this lovely
area. The extensive refuge (miles of paths) is
located between the bridges to Hilton Head
Island. There is parking near the entrance.
MUSEUM AT PARRIS ISLAND. Open seven
days a week, from 10:00 am until 4:30 pm.
Historical exhibits concerning Paris Island and
the U.S. Military, Beaufort, Port Royal and
Hilton Head Island. Also 127 types of weapons

HERITAGE LIBRARY. The Heritage Library
is located in the Courtyard Building (near Sea
Pines Circle), 32 Office Park Rd., Suite 300. It
is open on Monday, Thursday, Friday and
Saturday, from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. Nonprofit
research organization specializing in both
genealogical and historical materials. Extensive
collection of information on the Lowcountry and

ARTISTS GUILD OF BLUFFTON. Exhibit
of the work of 14 Bluffton artists. 20 Calhoun
Street, in the historic Planters Mercantile

ARTS CENTER OF COASTAL CAROLINA
GUIDED TOURS. Free tours of the $10

THE SEA PINES RESORT NATURE
CENTER. Open Daily March-August, open
Thursday-Monday (September -February). The
Sea Pines Resort nature center is a great site for
families, nature guru's, historians, avid outdoor
adventurers, and animal lovers alike. The center
offers an array of animals and hands on exhibits
to give personal interaction with the South's

has a treehouse and footbridge, plus a lookout
